Local representation works when it is built around the institution
Opening a market from a distance is difficult. Travel, local hiring, and day-to-day partner management all sit far from the home campus. Appointing someone on the ground helps only if that person is chosen for the institution’s actual aims.
The brief comes before the person #
Write what the representative must protect: the offer, the student promise, and the line back to the home team. A brief that says “grow the market” invites activity. A brief that names the partner type and the student invites judgment.
Local rules are part of the role #
UVG’s representation work draws on people who already work in the Asia Pacific, and in India in particular, and who understand partners, tax, and local risk. The representative is not a substitute for that knowledge.
Give the home team a rhythm #
A fortnightly note with decisions, not a monthly slide of activity, keeps the campus in the market. Representation fails quietly when the home team stops reading.
