Payroll is a market decision, not a back-office chore

Chaitanya Madhav
Deep teal abstract cover for a payroll article

A delayed first salary is remembered longer than the launch event. Payroll is one of the few moments a new market feels real to the person you hired.

Be clear who employs #

Staff should know the name on the contract, the pay date, and where to ask a question. Ambiguity here is read as absence, even when the academic plan is strong.

Local deductions are not optional colour #

Statutory deductions, leave, and notice periods are part of the offer you made. Importing the home campus policy unchanged creates a promise you may not be allowed to keep.

One calendar #

Put pay dates, filing dates, and review dates on the same calendar as the academic term. People risk and enrolment risk are the same year.

Planning a market, or a team to run it?
